I have never done this before. Is it for me?
if you are reasonably fit and energetic, kayaking is for you. Our sit-on top kayaks are safe, stable and light and we have tours for everyone. Our sunset tour is the easiest one, with the least amount of paddling. Our bio-bay tour has the longest paddle and takes place in the dark, requiring more effort.

If you have any concerns, talk to us when you book your tour and we will be able to advise you about the tour that is best for you and the current weather conditions. Our priority is for you to have the best, most enjoyable experience possible.
top

Do I need to be a good swimmer?
We provide life jackets that must be worn at all times.
top

What kind of kayaks do you use?
We offer tandem sit-on-top kayaks made by Wilderness Systems. Our T130 kayaks are the lightest, most stable and comfortable kayaks on the market. We are proud to offer the very best to our guests.
top

Are all your tours guided?
All of our tours are guided. We use a ratio of 4 kayaks per guide. Our maximum number of passengers is a total of 16.
top

I am a single paddler. Do I need a partner to join?
We will be happy to partner you with another kayaker. If the total number of guests is odd, we will have a single kayak for you.
top

What should I wear?
You will not get completely wet, but water from your paddle will enter your kayak and wet your seat. Wear swim-wear for your kayak adventure.
On a day tour, you should think of sun protection. A hat, and a shirt are a must. Your legs will be exposed to the sun too. If you are sensitive, bring a towel to cover them. Applying high protection factor sunblock is a very good idea.
We recommend wearing footwear to easily enter and exit your kayak and for comfort when bracing against the footrests. Flip-flops, aqua-socks, or other water friendly shoes are ideal.
On a night tour, wear your swim-wear, water friendly footwear.

top

Should I bring food and water?
We provide complimentary water for all of our tours. You may want to bring a snack, but our longest tour is only 2 hours long and we are located next door to the Kaibo Bar and Grill, a great place to have a drink and a meal at the end of your kayak adventure.
top

Am I going to get wet?
You will not get wet, except for some water puddling on the seat. This water comes from the paddle, as you move it from side to side.

top

Are the mosquitos bad?
At sunset, we do have some mosquitos on our beach. We provide repellant if you need it. Once we get going, you will find that there are no mosquitoes in the mangroves or bio-bay.
top

Am I too heavy or too tall for your kayaks?
We suggest a maximum combined weight of 450lb. This works best if evenly distributed. All guests should be under 6' 3" too. Please talk to us if you have any special needs.
top

Can I bring my camera?
You can bring your camera on our tours. We provide you with a dry-bag to keep your valuables dry and safe on your kayak.

Where do you depart from?
We are located at Cayman Kai on the North Side of the island a few minutes from Rum Point in Cayman Kai. About a 1.5 hour drive from George Town and a world away from the hustle and bustle of George Town and the cruise ship crowds.
You will find us next door to the Kaibo Yacht Club, a fun beach bar and restaurant that is a perennial favorite with the locals on week-ends. Enjoy a day out at our nice beach, have a great kayak adventure and end the day with drinks and dinner at Kaibo. Tropical perfection!
top

What are full moon tours? What will I see?
Our full moon tours take advantage of the bright, soft tropical moon light for a relaxing adventure to a quiet mangrove lagoon. You will see the mangrove forest bathed by the silver light and enjoy a rum punch under the moon and the stars. An unforgettable experience.
top

What are bio-bay tours? What will I see?
Bio-bay is the most exciting night tour in Cayman. We travel to one of the rare places on earth where the plankton algae Pyrodinium Bahamense blooms year round, providing an explosion of luminescence. Watch out for the fish as they leave luminous trails behind them.
top

What are sunset tours? What will I see?
Sunset tours start with a short version of our mangrove adventure. Just before sunset we will raft up in a quiet cove, watch the sunset and sip a cool rum punch. Juvenile fish are often visible in the mangrove roots and birds return to their roosting grounds late in the evening.
top

What are mangrove tours? What will I see?
The mangrove forest is the star of this tour, with its complex ecosystem. Juvenile fishes of all species use the mangrove roots as their nursery. Sponges, oysters and invertebrates encrost the roots. Green turtles, rays and nurse sharks sometimes make an apperance, as well as several species of birds. We travel to hidden canals and ponds accessible only with the shallow draft of a kayak.
top

Why do you only go to bio-bay at certain times of the month?
As bright as bioluminescence is at Bio-bay, light pollution is to be avoided for the best experience. We only visit Bio-bay on the darkest nights of the month, when the moon is new or has not risen yet. This gives us a window of opportunity of about 2 weeks every month. Consult our calendar for the specific dates. If you are planning a visit at a time when we are not going to Bio-bay, but are determined to see it, call us to discuss a possible charter at a special time. We may be able to arrange something for you.
top

Will Kaibo Beach Bar and Grill be open when we return from our tour?
Kaibo is open from 11AM to 11PM every day of the week and only closes for special functions. We will inform you of scheduled closings if they affect you at the time of your booking.
top

Do you offer pick up services from my hotel?
We do not offer pick-up services at this time.
If you are staying on Seven Mile Beach, we suggest you rent a car and explore the rest of the island. You will discover an unspoiled side of Cayman that will charm and delight you.
Make an adventure with Cayman Kayaks part of your day trip and enjoy tropical nature and water in an unspoiled state.
top

Is there a ferry to Kaibo/Rum Point?
The ferry service has not been restored yet.
top

I would like a more intimate experience for my group. Can I book a charter?
We do offer charters on request to personalize your experience. Contact us with any special requests.
